My Ex Wardrobe was lucky enough to be invited to join this year’s Vintage fashion show held at Exeter’s iconic Cathedral as part of Exeter Fashion & Beauty Week. Although we only stock a few vintage items in store we were able to cherry pick some special items to take along and display for our exhibit.
We concentrated on the floral Liberty print tea dresses and glamorous 1920’s style drop hem gowns, and adding a few special designer vintage items in between. My favourite vintage item we have available and exhibited, is a show stopping suede black jacket with large coloured gems and gold hems by Gavin Brown founder of the clothes show live. This jacket got a lot of attention as it is so different and stands out beautifully. The main vintage items we stock and were able to exhibit are beautiful designer vintage handbags from a range of luxury designers. We had Dior, Chanel, Mulberry and Valentino and although vintage they are all in excellent condition. I was over the moon when one young lady found a home for some vintage yellow Trickers shoes and another lady looked gorgeous in a figure hugging fully sequined little black dress, which also left with her that evening.
Stunning vocal group The Hummingbirds singing 1940’s and 1950’s hits to match the vintage atmosphere.
With live vintage singing from a local vintage style girls group and solo singers, we had dancing as well as tea and cake. There was also a best dressed male and female prize so everyone made a huge effort with their own vintage styles in the hope to bag those prizes.

The fashion show itself was of course amazing and I now have my eye on a few items. My particular favourite was a stunning red velvet Jessica Rabbit long gown which screamed sexy black and white film star siren.
